Spencer's obituary

With heartfelt appreciation for a life well lived, we remember Spencer Louthan, a man of many joys and talents, who passed on November 20, 2025. Born on October 2, 1946, Spencer lived a full, compassionate, and richly meaningful life.

Spencer was a man of enduring spirit and boundless love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Louthan, and his children Justin, Ian, Michael, and Jenny and nine grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and remembered especially for his humorous, romantic, sensitive, and creative charm.

Spencer found joy in the simple pleasures of life—savoring a well-grilled steak, Jimmy Dean sausages, or a Dick’s burger. He loved the sweetness of a chocolate shake, a root beer, or a smoothie.

His passion for music and movies was woven into the fabric of his days. He adored the music of Lionel Richie, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, and Elton John. His favorite films—The Princess Bride, Grumpy Old Men, and Sleepless in Seattle reflected his warm, humorous, and romantic spirit.

A playful soul, Spencer delighted in games of all kinds, from video games to cribbage and cards. He loved stargazing, photography, snorkeling and diving—activities that spoke to his deep appreciation for nature’s beauty.

An intrepid traveler, Spencer found joy in exploring the world. He cherished vacations in Hawaii, Fiji, Rarotonga, Yellowstone, and Canada. Closer to home, he reveled in the serenity of Golden Gardens, Edmonds Beach, and Long Beach Washington.

A lover of the color green, perhaps reflecting his affinity for peace and the natural world Spencer was a unique blend of sensitivity, creativity, and quiet strength. Among his greatest accomplishments, he held his family above all. His honorable military service during the Vietnam War, his academic achievements, and his marriage to Patricia were testaments to his determined and loving nature.

Spencer was a wonderful role model, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, stories, and wisdom that will be passed down through generations.
