Spencer's obituary
Spencer Cyril Dupuis, born on April 25, 1997, passed away on February 1, 2025, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the age of 27 after a long battle with mental health challenges.
Spencer was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ron and Sue. He is remembered with love by his fiancée Ken, his cousin Izzie, and his Aunt Joan. His loyal Golden Labrador, Peanut, was a constant source of joy and companionship throughout his life. Spencer also shared a deep bond with his close friends Jack, Nathan, and Connor, whose unwavering support enriched his life in immeasurable ways.
A lover of the outdoors, Spencer found peace and happiness in nature. He delighted in biking along scenic trails and embraced the camaraderie of hunting trips—often laughing at his own self-proclaimed poor aim. Racing brought him thrills (though he could have done without the occasional crash), and these adventures were moments where he connected deeply with both the world around him and those who joined him.
Spencer worked as an independent contractor and lived by the philosophy that life was "too short to be bored all the time." His adventurous spirit extended beyond work; he never stayed in one place for too long but always left a lasting impact wherever he went. When times were good financially, Spencer was a generous supporter of local charities and youth projects. Even during leaner periods, he opened his home to anyone in need of a place to stay. His kindness touched countless lives and left an enduring legacy of compassion.
May Spencer’s memory inspire greater understanding for those facing similar struggles. He was far from perfect but he approached life with kindness the best ways he knew how, and we all ache to know he is gone in this way.
There will be no service at this time, to honor Spencer's wishes. His fiancée would like to encourage friends and family to celebrate his life in ways that he would have found meaningful, relevant, and funny. A private scattering of his ashes may be arranged at a later date.
He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. Memorial donations in Spencer’s honor can be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital or a mutual aid project of the donor’s choice. May he rest in peace and find eternal comfort among the stars.
