With deep love and remembrance, we announce the passing of Sostena Landavazo, 75, on Monday, April 21st, in Parker, CO. Born April 11th, 1950, in Grants, NM, Sostena lived a rich, vibrant, and cherished life across various communities, including Grants, Gallup, Belen, Los Lunas, Colorado Springs, and Aurora, CO.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Sostena's life will be held at 12:00 PM on May 2nd at the Cow Palace (233 Betty Dr, Grants, NM 87020). Family and friends are warmly invited to gather for a reception at the Cow Palace from 3:30 – 5:30 PM to share fond memories and celebrate her legacy.
Sostena is survived by her devoted husband, Alberto Landavazo; her children: William (Robin), Celestino (Claudia), Mark (Misty), and Dolores Landavazo; her 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Tomas Trujillo (Patricia), and sisters, Benina Ross (Richard) and Lucille Silva (Steve).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Celestino Trujillo; her sister, Shirley Apodaca, her brothers, Demetrio Trujillo, Johnny Trujillo, and Samuel Trujillo.
Sostena will forever be remembered for her compassionate heart and unwavering dedication to others. During her time as a cook at Mesa View Elementary and Peralta Elementary, she took pride in preparing meals that felt like home, ensuring no child went without a meal, regardless of circumstances. Her artistry flourished in her craftwork, where her passion for ceramics, bows, painting, diamond art, and bedazzling showcased her unmatched attention to detail and creativity.
Her warmth, kindness, and steadfast love for God and her family remain an everlasting inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.
