Sonia was born in Troy, New York on October 8, 1939 the daughter of the Rev. Frank Jay and Mrs. Leona (Aldrich) Reid. Having earned a Master of Arts and a Master of Religious Education, Sonia served as a missionary for the United Methodist Church in Algeria for three years in the early 1960s and then in Korea for nearly 50 years. She worked closely with Korea’s first woman lawyer, Dr. Lee Tai Young as …
