Sonia's obituary
We mournfully announce the passing of Sonia "La Comai" Robles who left us on August 24, 2023. Sonia, better known as La Comai, was born on July 14, 1951, and was treasured by her family and friends for her stern yet loving nature. Known as the doting aunt who watched over everyone's children, Sonia was a figure of strength and love within her community.
Sonia welcomed her child into the world in 1979, and they became a source of immense joy and pride for her. A doting mother, she valued family bonds above all else. Sonia's life was marked by her love for the simple pleasures. She had a fondness for an unusual food combination—French fries with fried eggs, and her love for music was beautifully diverse, as she reveled in the melodies of Julio Iglesias, Vicente Fernandez, and Juan Gabriel.
She was an avid viewer of all novelas, her favorite TV shows, and always looked forward to rounds of her favorite game, Bingo. A fan of cerebral activities, Sonia enjoyed cross word puzzles and found solace in her hobby of sewing. Despite her stern exterior, she had a unique way of expressing her love and warmth through these activities.
Listening to music was Sonia's chosen form of exercise. The rhythm and melody moved her in ways that gym routines could never achieve. Her favorite vacation spot was Puerto Rico, a destination she frequented to absorb its rich culture and beautiful landscapes.
Above all, Sonia will be remembered for her lesson on altruism. Known to say, "Keep helping people out," Sonia believed in the power of kindness and the impact it could have on the community. Her actions reflected her belief, and she acted as a beacon of compassion throughout her life.
We bade goodbye to Sonia, knowing that her memory will live on in the lessons she taught, the kindness she expressed, and the love she shared with us all.
