I was so sorry to hear about Sonia's passing. She was such a wonderful friend to me and my entire Sacco family in the 8 years we knew her.  I am so glad we met each other 8 years ago on a trip to Michigan.  She talked about all of you often.   I feel like I know Renee and Robin and all the girls who called her  Nonnie, she was so proud of all of y'all.  Elaine she was you sister and I know how you must be hurting; I send my condolences to all of you.  Sonia was a loving and trusting friend and never met a stranger.  I will miss her truly.  Love Sheri Sacco  Beasley

Well, my 8-year friendship with Sonia Long came to be in 2015.   We both were both newly " widow-women " who needed a roommate to go on a ladies trip to  Mackinac Island, Michigan   I was paired up with the older widow woman (75) who was supposed to be really nice, quiet as a church mouse, easy to travel with.  I was like oooo great, I am going to have to take care of this little old lady on this trip.  I was (61) at the time.

O boy was I WRONG,  WHEN I SAW HER, she looked like a movie star and was dressed to the nines, so put together and young and hip! She took care of me.  It was my first time to travel, and I was only widowed for 5 months and so scared of branching out on my own.  Sonia taught me all about always packing an umbrella using packing cubes and only packing 2 pair of black pants and five colorful tops, it is all you need; how to load a suitcase in an overhead compartment and how to split a meal with her because it was cheaper, and we did  not need to eat so much.  She was a jet-setter who knew it all!  She was MY NEW BEST FRIEND~that is what  she always closed her email to me with till the very last text I got from her, saying you will always be my NEW BEST FRIEND, DON'T FORGET THAT, until I see you again  Sonia Long Leg as I called her.....I love you and  will miss all those longs talks into the night when we would have to be spilt up from rooming together on our many trips, because we keep the others  up with our laughing until  2:00 a.m..  But I would always find you with the flashlight you taught me to pack and we would get in our good night talk.....love you my NEW BEST FRIEND, ALWAYS AND FOREVER.
