Sondra's obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Sondra Cates, who journeyed home on March 30, 2024. Born on January 14, 1964, Sondra lived a life full of cherished moments and significant milestones.
Sondra completed her high school education in 1982 at San Marcos High School, located on W San Marcos Blvd, San Marcos, CA. Driven by her intellectual curiosity and desire to become an accountant, she graduated from National University in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy. Throughout her academic journey, Sondra demonstrated a spirit of determination and diligence that carried through into her professional life. She was employed as a Senior Tax Professional at Centenal Tax Group as well as being an owner/agent for Cates Tax & Business Services.
Known for her sparkling smile, Sondra always knew how to light up a room. An enthusiastic fan of baseball, she was loyal to her favorite teams, the San Diego Padres and the California Angels. Her favorite recreational activities included being a dedicated member of the Can-Am Spyder Ryders of America, allowing her to combine her love for the open road with her sense of adventure. She enjoyed visiting various MLB baseball Stadiums around the country, indulging her passion for sports even during her vacation time.
Sondra was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love to the friends and family she leaves behind. She is survived by her Mother, Maureen Cates, and her Father, James Cates. Sondra was predeceased by her beloved Brother, Kevin Cates, her Maternal Grandparents, Myron & Bernice Folsom, Paternal Grandparents, Samuel Cates & Mary L. Cates.
One of Sondra's greatest joys in life was her furry feline companion, Cooper, whom she adored. Sondra leaves behind a legacy of love through her parents, aunts, nieces, cousins, and extended siblings in TN. Her life was a testament to her enduring strength, benevolent heart, and unyielding faith.
