Woody's obituary

It is with great sadness we share that Solon Wood Mitchell III, affectionately known as Woody, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024 in Marietta, Georgia, at the age of 71 after a short but aggressive battle with cancer. Born on September 1, 1953 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Woody was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. As a christian, Woody found comfort in his relationship with the Lord and his family. He had many passions including baseball and music and an enduring love for vintage cars, sharing those interests with his loved ones and friends.

His family finds peace in knowing that Woody's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Marianne, and his son Phillip (Victoria) Mitchell and grandchildren Steele and Charleigh, and daughter Lauren (Ben) Colson and grandchildren Haley, Molly, Briggs, and Barrett. He is also survived by his parents, David and Nathalyn Miller, sister Becky Knapp, and brothers Cliff Miller and Mike Miller. Woody’s warmth, kindness, loyalty, and love for his family were felt by all who knew him.

All are invited to join Woody’s family for a celebration of life that will be held at Northstar Church in Kennesaw, GA on October 25 at 4:00PM with a reception to immediately follow at Main St. Events x 1885 in Acworth, Georgia.
