Sofia was an angel that changed the course of my once lonely life forever. Because of her I have known a love so deep and a connection so visceral that my heart never felt lonely again. I will never understand why the world gave her to me unasked, and then stripped her away nearly as suddenly and under great protest. The hole that is left in my life is a cold and dark abyss that I know no person, no place, and no mission will ever be able to fill. I have lost not only a daughter and best friend, but also a guide, a mirror, a sounding board, a work of art, and someone who I felt so connected to that all the strange pre-conceptions of who and what we must be in life could disappear.
