Skylar's obituary
Skylar Castiel Cabrera-McGinn, affectionately known as Sky, was conceived in Monroe and tragically miscarried at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY on December 30, 2023, at the tender age of 8 weeks and 5 days. Sky's gender identity unknown due to them being unborn the parents prefer for Skylar to be addressed using they/them pronouns.
Although Sky's time with us was brief, their presence left an indelible mark on the hearts of their parents, Angelina Mena and Abraham McGinn. Sky was eagerly anticipated by their family, and their parents had dreams of feeling their little one's movements and sharing that joy with loved ones. Unfortunately, those dreams were shattered when it was discovered that Sky's heart had stopped beating.
In the limited time Sky spent with their parents, Angelina and Abraham, they cherished the moments when Sky's presence was felt through gentle flutters, like the delicate wings of butterflies. These moments brought excitement and anticipation for the future, but now serve as bittersweet memories.
Sky is survived by their loving mother, Angelina Mena, and their devoted father, Abraham McGinn. Their grandparents, Margaret Decker and David Decker on their mother's side, and Bernadette McGinn on their father's side, also mourn their loss. Sky's uncle, Brandon Decker, and aunt, Katlyn Decker, along with their cousin, Madison Decker, share in the grief of losing this precious soul. Kate Popoloski, a dear friend of Sky's parents, was chosen as Sky's godmother and joins them in their sorrow.
In honor of Sky's memory, a private memorial will be held. Sky's parents plan to acquire a plaque and a small shrub tree to create a lasting tribute to their beloved child. Additionally, a separate gathering will be held with their parents and their godmother, Kate, to celebrate Sky's life and the love they brought to their family.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions can be made to organizations supporting early pregnancy loss and miscarriage charities. Angelina and Abraham are currently researching these organizations and will provide further information for those who wish to contribute.
Sky's time with us was far too short, but their impact will be forever cherished. They have left an enduring legacy of love and resilience in the hearts of their family and friends. May their gentle spirit find peace, and may their memory bring solace to those who mourn their loss.
