Sirena's obituary
Sirena was a practitioner of an African traditional religion that focuses on belief in God, reverence of the ancestors and appreciation for the forces of nature that sustain us all. Within this tradition’s rites, she was marked a child of Shango, who embodies power, strength, fire, and the passion that gives life its true enjoyment and meaning. These characteristics were evident in her personality and demeanor.
Silk or Silky Smooth as she was called by those who loved her was a strong willed, strong loving, and straight-shooting woman who loved to have a good time and dance the night away. Silk was known for her wardrobe changes at every event and took pride in her appearance. She always had to “do a little something for the people.”
Sirena was blessed to be happy and enjoy a great love in her fiancé Don. After meeting unexpectedly while shopping they were able to spend their years enjoying life together.
Before moving on to a place of peace on April 26th, 2020, Silk left many happy memories for those that she fiercely protected and cared about. Sirena leaves to cherish her memory her parents Loretta Conner and Dwight (Melvene) McCollum. Her fiancé Don Rayner. Her sister Rhonda and brother Dwight (LaKeisha). Nephews Vonshae, LaDante, Jovante, Andrew (Briana), Alontae, Matthew, Jaylen, and Dwight Jr. Nieces Asia, Nya, Oshun and Zafirah. Great nieces LaNylaa and Kaylee, great nephews Jovante, Avion, 95 year old Great Aunt Usella Nelson, Aunt Lashell Williams, a loving companion dog Chichi, and a host of cousins, close friends and spiritual family.
