It’s impossible to adequately address the magnitude of this loss and the tragedy of Sid’s passing.
May all who have been so deeply affected by this incomprehensible event find comfort in the words of those who have taken the time to share here and in other ways.
“Sadly enough, the most painful goodbyes are the ones that are left unsaid and never explained.”
― Jonathan Harnisch
“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
― Jamie Anderson
My most sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to all.

Godfrey,
My heart aches for you. Precious Splinter was a beam of sunshine. Oh these many years since we've seen you and yet you still live large in our hearts. I treasure a photo I have of Odie and Splinter when they were 3 years old. Two sweet little boys. We had such happy days with you.
Life is not supposed to work out like this, with your child dying first. Oh my. Know that you are in our prayers and in our hearts.
With much love,
Margaret & Richard von Werssowetz

Absolutely tragic, I am so sorry to hear this, and my heart goes out to all of you. Sidney was my nephew, though our lives rarely intersected. My deepest condolences. Davy

Dear Godfrey and Amanda,
I'v thought so many times about all of you. When I read that Sidney had died I was devastated. He was so nice, polite and fun to be around in the classroom. Your family was always so thoughtful and kind to me and I'll never forget the cupcakes that you brought to my class on my birthday. I'm sure that Sidney adored his little girl with such love from him and the rest of the family. I did try very hard to reach him in Colorado but to no avail. Please accept my deepest sympathy and only kind thoughts of Sid and know that many people cared about him.
