We remember today the life-loving spirit of Mrs. Shyrli Grunwald, who departed from us on May 01, 2025. Known affectionately as "MiMi" to her grand and great-grandchildren, she was born on June 07, 1940. Shyrli was a powerful emblem of a strong-willed, fiery, and honest personality that touched the lives of many.
Shyrli was a devoted wife for 58 years to her beloved partner, the late Bruce Grunwald, whom she married in 1962. She spent her life surrounded by a large and loving family--her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy and some of her greatest accomplishments.
She is survived by her endearing daughter, Tracey Woolfson, and son-in-law Brad Whiddon. Her grandson, Shea Dampier and granddaughter, Skye Barnes and her many great-grandchildren, Zachary Fibish, Austin Dampier, Rachel Fibish, Jodi Barnes, and Zoey Barnes who will remember her fondly. Her son-in-law, Raymond Sherman, also survives her.
Shyrli was predeceased by her parents, Anshal and Florence Neihouse, her sister, Jaque Neihouse, her loving husband Bruce Grunwald, her dear daughter, Shana Sherman, and her great-grandson, Brody Barnes.
Shyrli was an ardent fan of The Pittsburgh Steelers and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like her favored drinks of sweet tea and lemonade prepared just the way she liked. She indulged in books by Danielle Steele and appreciated the music of greats like Elton John, ABBA, Cher, Phil Collins, and Rod Stewart. She was also a faithful viewer of Days of Our Lives and savored the fun and camaraderie of classic game shows.
A lover of travel, her most cherished getaway spot was Hawaii, where she could unwind and immerse in the tranquil beauty of the paradise island. Shyrli's life, her strength, and her love for her family remain an inspiration for all who knew her.
