Shontell's obituary

Shontell Deon Harris, 53, a loving mother, daughter, sister, and cherished friend, went home to be with the Lord on November 14th, 2025.

Born on July 6th, 1972, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shontell was the daughter of Dereatha (Ricky) Baril of Centerline, Michigan and James Harris, of Houston, Texas. She spent her formative years in Clawson, Michigan, later moving to St. Clair, Michigan, where she graduated high school in 1991.

Shontell dedicated many years to caring for the elderly as a compassionate caregiver. Above all, she loved the Lord and her children, Amber and Lucas, deeply. She had a profound kindness and a constant thoughtfulness for others. Her passion for music and love of singing, and her lifelong love of animals brought her great joy. She loved to laugh and, even more so, loved to make others laugh. She touched many lives by sharing her faith and serving God. Shontell attended Community Christian Church of Sterling Heights for many years, and was baptized there. Most recently, she attended Epic Church in Shelby Township where she enjoyed the fellowship and teachings.

Shontell is survived by her parents, her beloved children, Amber and Lucas Harris, her cherished sisters, Tabitha (Tom) Szpyra and Donelle (Kevin) Atkins, her loving life companion, Corry Denham, and Leigh Harris, the father of her children, along with many other loved-ones as well.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 7th at New Hope Christian Church in Shelby Township located at 52226 VanDyke Ave Shelby Twp. MI 48316. Service at 1 pm. Luncheon immediately thereafter.
