SHONDA's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the departure of Shonda Johnson, who was born on May 23, 1957 in Pennsylvania , and passed away on August 4, 2024 in California. Known for lighting up any room she entered, with her beautiful smile Shonda loved her family, music, good company, and great food. Her legacy of kindness and warmth, which encased everyone she encountered, will remain with us.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her children: Nique Mayo, Amber Coles-Wilson, Quentin Mayo, Melvin H. Coles III, and Michael Young Jr. She was also blessed with several grandchildren whom she adored: Benjamin K Robinson III, Dominic Carey, Isaiah Nelson, Quentin A Mayo Jr., Donovan L. Wilson, Lora Mayo, and Amaya C Wilson.

Shonda was predeceased by her brother, Tamara Chris Wilson, her other brother, Rodtego Delmont Roth, her mother, Lucille Yvonne Johnson-Roth, her father, James Blannon, and her sister, Kim Johnson.

She will also be fondly remembered by her surviving siblings: Robert Roth, Roberta Roth, Diane Thomas, Eric Walker, Yolanda Roth, Jadean Gatewood, and Lovette Thomas.

Shonda's enduring message to us all was to never give up on our people. This testament to her unyielding faith in the power of human connection will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her loss will be deeply felt by her loving family, a vast network of friends and coworkers.
