Shirley's obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Shirley Vaughn, who entered eternal rest on January 2, 2025. Born February 28, 1943, Shirley was a remarkable woman, whose life was a vivid tapestry of love, strength, and resilience.
Her greatest accomplishment, in her eyes, was raising her seven children. A proud and loving mother, she leaves behind a remarkable legacy in her daughter, Kim and her 6 sons, Mike, Joe, John, Raymond, Davey, and Danny. Shirley was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchild.
Shirley was a vibrant woman who had an undeniable zest for life. Her tastes were varied and colorful, much like her personality. She loved the simple pleasures - children, animals (especially dogs and birds), music, dancing, biking, eating lobster and sipping on Pepsi, playing cards with her loved ones, and watching her favorite movie, The Lion King. Sweet Caroline, Nights in White Stain were a few songs that held a special place in her heart, often bringing a smile to her face. She enjoyed singing especially in church where people would come up at the end of the service and tell her how beautiful her voice was. She wore her favorite color, purple, with an effortless grace that was purely Shirley.
She was a woman of faith and taught those around her the value of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. She was proud of her children, and this sense of pride emanated from her in every interaction. Shirley's spirit, essence, and adoration for her family will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established for the "Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois", a cause close to Shirley's heart. Donations may be made at https://everloved.com/life-of….

We mourn her loss deeply but find comfort in knowing that her legacy will live on through the family she adored.
