Shirley was my first cousin and in many ways like my older sister. My fondest memories are as a child when she would have a person from church pick herself and me up to go to church. Neither of our parents made us go to church but even as an 8 year old there was no doubt who was in charge. She made sure I was dressed and well behaved in church. She treated me the same until she became sick. Cousin I miss you so very much. You always had a calming energy to meĀ

We have special thoughts and cherish good memories of Shirley today on what would have been her 73rd birthday. Larry and Shirley shared this day for their birthdays for many years together. We know that Larry is remembering those great years and special times as he has his own birthday today...his first without Shirley. We are grateful for Shirley in our lives and continue to remember her kindness, her sense of humor, and her love for Larry, her family and others. Her absence in our lives has been felt by all of us.

Shirley was loved and admired by her Rhoten Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law for many reasons. Shirley was such a loving and caring person who had a positive attitude and a beautiful smile that was contagious. She added so much to our family and made our gatherings more enjoyable. Being the educator she was, Shirley would bring added interest and valued information to a conversation. When there was an unsolved question about the subject or she wanted to learn more about it, Shirley would research the issue and follow up with a phone call or send more information in articles or photos to answer it. As a nurse, her caring nature prompted her to serve those who were likely the more difficult cases to handle, yet she was gratified and willing to give her utmost in caring for them. We have missed our Shirley for some time now, but have continued to love her and happily remember so many good times with her and Larry.

I remember when Shirley and I played golf together in a league. We enjoyed playing together and then went to Lunch after the games. We had some really good conversations and Shirley was a really good listener. She was a special sister in law. - Patti Schell
Dear Family of Shirley,
Our sincere condolences to you. As a past work associate and friend of Shirl, I think about her often and remember her encouraging words when there were difficult times in our life. Then I recall the fun times we had on our girl trips just laughing, shopping, eating and talking. We admired her so much as she was so dedicated to the care of her mom for years. She was so smart, while working as an educator she also became a registered nurse. Quite an achievement. She loved her family so much and would speak about them each time we socialized. Seemed like she never got to see them enough and cherished times with them. She so adored her grandsons and they were such a blessing. Our prayers and sympathy are sent to all of you.
Sincerely, Peg and Jim Adamitis
