Shirley's obituary
Shirley Rae Naples, native from Fayette County PA and well renowned in Vineland NJ, passed away on July 9th at the age of 86, surrounded by her family and cats. Shirley was the loving mother to Cynthia A. Riggin (John), JoAnn DeFeo, and Darlene Corsiglia (John). She was the caring grandmother to Kristin Castelow (Casey), Alfred DeFeo (Michelle), Tiffany Giacomelli, William Castelow, and Jonathan Corsiglia (Julianne) and great-grandmother to Jacob, Joseph, James, Nino, Vincent, and Aurora. She will also be greatly missed by her sister Sheila Brown (David), and her niece Lisa Vansickle (Charlie). Shirley was born in Fayette County PA to the late John D. Roderick and Gertrude B. Umble.
She attended Point Merion High School and graduated in 1953. Afterwards, she moved to Vineland and got married. Shirley was a prominent figure in the community. She was the Business Manager at the YMCA of Vineland, where she worked for over 20 years. Shirley will be remembered for her love of waltz music, dance, cats, and talented sewing skills. She would often attend the Northern Italy Club in Vineland to dance the night away. She had great affection for all cats; especially Fuzz, The Man, and Momma. She was always fixing her children and grandchildren’s hem lines and making custom doll clothing. And she will always be remembered for her famous Spaghetti Sauce and Carrot Cake. Funeral arrangements are being made by Craft-Givnish Funeral Home of Willow Grove, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to Shirley’s Memorial Service to be held on August 6th from 11am-1pm at Dwelling Place Church 801 North High Street Millville NJ. A burial is planned at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Vineland, NJ; date TBD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley’s memory to the YMCA of Vineland by check, online, or by phone.
