Shirley was a precious lady and a wonderful neighbor to my parents, Homer and Peggy Adkins. We understand that she had a wonderful career and traveled extensively. Blessings to her family. She will be missed.

Shirley was my Aunt, “Favorite (ist) Aunt” as she so lovingly pointed out. She had a great smile, was quick witted, extremely well read and never stopped her quest to learn or research. She enjoyed her life on the boat and the motor home that she shared with her husband Ray and Cuddles, her beloved large poodle!

Shirley and Ray traveled extensively throughout the US, and we shared our stories as I visited many of the places she loved.

She had a fascination for Buffalo as well as Peacocks and Lighthouses. Something we always had to shop for on our girl trips to the beach. Her sunroom was filled with every Peacock item available, her living room with Lighthouses, and a few small Buffalo figures.

Her career spanned many executive level positions in both Oak Ridge and Tampa, Florida. She led the way by example as an assertive woman. You would not want to be on the opposing side when it came to negotiations. Stories she enjoyed sharing with me over the years.

Shirley lived life to the fullest. She instilled in me the importance of asking questions, doing my research, and being assertive.

I will miss her dearly.

Shirley was a great friend to our family and she will be dearly missed. She always had a smile that could light up a room and always had a great story to tell of her life experiences. She was a blessing in our lives and will forever be remembered by our family. Our deepest heartfelt condolences to her family. Prayers of Peace at this sad time.
