Shirley Louise McCarthy (Preston), aged 65, passed away on July 21, 2024, in Monticello, New York. Born on July 6, 1959, in Middletown, NY, Shirley was a beacon of resilience and warmth throughout her life.

A dedicated employee at Orange County Home and Infirmary, Shirley concluded her professional journey as a courier for Child Protective Services for Orange County, NY, retiring at the age of 55. Her work ethic was unparalleled, often balancing multiple jobs to provide for her family, which was a testament to her strength and determination.

Shirley was a loving wife to Kevin and a devoted mother to Heather, Adam, Barbara, and Kevin. Her family also included her son-in-law Noah, and her grandchildren, Wyatt and Leah and her pets Marley, Marilyn, Millie, and Maddy. She was a sister to Angie, Cathy, Pauline, and Tammy. Shirley was preceded in death by her son Adam, her mother June, her brothers Hank and Johnny.

Her personality was marked by kindness and generosity, traits that endeared her to many. Shirley's interests were diverse; she enjoyed crocheting, painting, drinking coffee, and indulging in her love for shoes—particularly her cowboy boots. She was also fond of jewelry and always made sure her nails were perfectly done. Retirement allowed her more time for her hobbies, including her favorite cruises and cherished moments with her grandchildren.

On Monday, August 5th a private ceremony will be held with immediate family, followed by an open house celebration of life for all the attend at Kinnebrook Estates Community Center in Monticello, New York from 2pm-5pm.

Shirley McCarthy will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the profound impact she had on those around her. Her legacy of love, hard work, and community will continue to live on through her family and friends.
