Shirley Lynn Hunter (née Caudill), age 81, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Roseville, California. She was born on August 11, 1944, in Lynch, Kentucky. Shirley moved with her family to Taylor Mill, Kentucky in 1956 and graduated from Dixie Heights High School in 1962. Later, she moved to California with her husband and daughter. Shirley brought warmth and joy to those around her throughout her long and meaningful life.
Shirley was the beloved wife of Herb Hunter for 63 years and a devoted mother to her daughter Teresa Hastings. Her love extended deeply into the next generations as a cherished grandmother to Briana Hastings and Jordan Hastings (Taylyn), and a proud great-grandmother to Hazel Hastings. She also held a special bond with her brother Bob Caudill (Mary Jane) and remained close to many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Jim Caudill; her brothers Tom and John Caudill; and her niece Janice Caudill. Their memories lived on in Shirley's heart as she continued to honor their legacy through the love she gave to others.
Shirley had a vibrant personality that made her a joy to be around. She was known for being loving, kind, caring, empathetic, outgoing, and friendly, qualities that defined every relationship she nurtured. Her home was often filled with laughter during games of Mexican Train Dominoes or card games shared with family and friends. She found quiet joy in reading and solving jigsaw puzzles, hobbies that reflected both her thoughtful nature and sharp mind.
Shirley Lynn Hunter will be remembered for the warmth she brought into every room and the unwavering devotion she showed to those she loved. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
