Shirley's obituary

Ms. Shirley Hunter, 88, of sunny Kingman, Arizona, passed away on December 05, 2022 peacefully in her sleep.

Shirley was born on November 10, 1934 to Frank and Ercie (nee Bennett) Phillips in Garfield Heights, Ohio and immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Shirley went on to graduate from Chardon High School in 1952 as an exemplary student.  After graduating from high school, Shirley went on to a rewarding career as George Rimes' personal secretary at George Rimes Trucking in Chardon, Ohio for many years. She later transferred  to Blair Cartage in Newbury, Ohio , and upon retirement in Kingman, Arizona, she went to college and became a Medical Transcriptionist  working for many years at Kingman Regional Medical Center and doing the transcription for many local doctors in Kingman, Arizona.

On June 19, 1953 she married Le Roy Young and welcomed daughters Kathleen, Patricia and Laura.  On  June 6, 1965 she married her second husband, Robert Hunter, in New York and welcomed daughter Vicki.

In June of 1986 she united with Herbert Clipston and the two were inseparable from that point on.  Herb and Shirley were together for 36 incredibly happy years.   As was Shirley's wish, Herbert allowed Shirley to live out the rest of her days in their cherished home in Kingman, Arizona where he cared for her selflessly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Shirley's parents,  Frank and Ercie  Phillips, made their home and raised their children;   Warren (Neil), Raymond, Shirley, Virginia, and Howard in Hambden, Ohio.   Shirley was a fiercely dedicated mom and grandmother to all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  Family came first and was most important to Shirley, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ercie Phillips, brothers Warren (Neil) Phillips, Raymond  Phillips and Howard Phillips.   She is survived by her beloved Herbert Clipston, her baby sister Virginia (Fred) Buck, daughters Kathleen Nicholls, Patricia (Larry) Hrusa, Laura Nicholls, Vicki (Dennis) Helsley, grandchildren Jennifer (Andrew) Kanaga, Britton (Jaimie) Nicholls, Justin (Victoria) Helsley, Kegan Nicholls, Kevin Hrusa, Jordan (Elizabeth) Helsley, Peyton Nicholls, Amber Nicholls; great-grandchildren Julie (Tyler) Brzeczkowski, AJ Kanaga, Aiden Kanaga, Evan Kanaga, Julian Nicholls, Lincoln Helsley, Iris Nicholls and Penelope Helsley; and great-great-grandchildren Seth Brzeczkowski and Audriana  Brzeczkowski

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Shirley's name to Arizona Life Hospice in Fort Mohave, Arizona, who assisted Herb and Vicki in allowing her to die with dignity in the only home she has known for the past many, many years.   Without the assistance of the many wonderful ladies at Arizona Life Hospice that would not have been possible.  I would like to list all the wonderful caregivers from Arizona Life Hospice who assisted in her care, but there are far too many to list.

At Shirley's request, there will be no services.
