Shirley's obituary

Surrounded by loved ones, Shirley “Cheri” Hartman, 82, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2026.

Cheri was born in Canton, Pennsylvania, to Leon and Marjorie Herman. She was raised on her family’s dairy farm, where she developed a deep appreciation for hard work, a love of the outdoors, and a lifelong devotion to family.

In the 1970s, Cheri moved to Florida with her children, beginning a new chapter. In 1985, she and her husband, Jerry, founded U.S. Marble in Melbourne, Florida. Cheri applied her background in accounting to manage the business’s administrative operations, playing a vital role in its success. After 18 years, they sold the company and embraced retirement together—spending time traveling, making memories, and becoming active members of American Legion Post 163.

Cheri found her greatest joy in simple pleasures. She loved being outdoors in the sunshine while tending to her garden. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where she shared her love through cooking and holiday gatherings—there was always room at her table for anyone who came.

Affectionately known as “Granny,” Cheri was the heart of her family—a steady, loving presence whose devotion will continue to bind them together.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jerry; her daughter, Christine (Ron); her son, Bryon; her stepson, Chad; her grandchildren, Erica (Tim) and Kyle; and one great-grandchild, Lainey.
