Shirley Gilbert, 81, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Bay City, Michigan. Born on August 19, 1943, in Bay City, Shirley spent a lifetime surrounded by family and friends who cherished them deeply.

Shirley found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially playing bingo and spending time at their cabin in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The cabin was a place of peace and relaxation, where they could enjoy the beauty of nature and create lasting memories with loved ones.

Shirley is survived by their three children: Frank (Cindy) Gilbert, Linda (Gary) Bluer, and Veronica (Dale) Gilbert. Their legacy continues through many grandchildren: Melissa (Dave) Cramer, Jose Gilbert, Jody Smith, JR (Jenni) Smith, Shaun (Emily) Smith, Kayla (Ben) Smith, Kristen Bluer, Matthew Bluer, Misty (Zack) Gilbert, David (Tabatha) Gilbert, Brian Gilbert, Jason Gilbert, Anthony Gilbert, Amy (Troy) Tippett, and Sarah Gilbert. Shirley was also blessed with 32 great-grandchildren.

Additionally, Shirley is survived by six sisters: June Thompson, Dixie LaLone, Pat Brandt, Marj Chamberlain, Sharon (Paul) Vinson, and Kitty (Dan) Frank; one brother, Butch (JoAnn) LaLone; as well as many nieces and nephews.

They were predeceased by their son Robert Gilbert; grandson Todd Gilbert; two great-grandchildren Shannon Gilbert and Mason Smith; three brothers Bud LaLone, Rod LaLone, and Ted LaLone; and one sister Beverly Wagner.

Shirley’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew them. May their legacy bring comfort to all who loved them.

As we all know Shirley never liked being the center of attention and per her wishes there will be no services.
