Shirley Gene Fogler, lovingly known as “Mema,” passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, at the age of 90. She was the heart of her family and a guiding light to all who knew her.

Born on September 20, 1935, in Stuart, Oklahoma, Shirley was the beloved daughter of Carl “Buster” Hester and Illa Hester. From an early age, she lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service to others.

Shirley loved deeply and always put God first. She devoted her life to teaching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the importance of faith, kindness, and unconditional love. Her home was filled with warmth, prayer, laughter, and open arms, and her presence brought comfort to everyone around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl “Buster” and Illa Hester; her brothers, Buddy and Dan Hester; her sister, Susie; her beloved husband, Clancy Fogler; and her son, Joe Ashford.

Shirley is survived by her loving family:

• Nicholas Samsel and his wife, Jammie, and their daughter, Julian

• Tricia McClarty and her husband, Joseph, and their children, Carson, Audrey, and Addison

• Russell Goodwin and his wife, Crystal, and their children, Traise, Laila, and Skylynn

• Kelli Goodwin

• Paige Goodwin and her son, Ryker

Her legacy will live on through the generations she nurtured, the values she instilled, and the countless lives she touched through her faith and love.

While we grieve her passing, we rejoice knowing she is at peace and in the presence of the Lord, guided by the promise of Scripture:

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” — Psalm 121:8

While our hearts mourn her passing, we find comfort knowing she is at peace in her heavenly home, reunited with loved ones who went before her, and watching over the family she loved so deeply.
