Our family was far from perfect, but what I can say is that Grandma was loved. I had the honor of being her primary caregiver the last year of her life and she healed me so much, and I am better off for having had her this last year. She also brought all my aunts and uncles back into my life, some I had not seen in decades. In the end, Grandma wanted 'her kids around her,' and that is exactly what she got. As we laughed together, sharing stories about her, she began taking her heartbreaking last breaths. While it was so sad to see her go, everyone can take comfort in knowing she was not alone.
