Shirley's obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt Shirley Florena Dorsett of Mesa, Arizona. She passed away from this life and into the loving arms of her savior Jesus on November 22, 2025, at the age of 85. In her last days, she was surrounded by many loving family members.
She was born in Holland Michigan on December 26, 1939 and grew up on a Michigan farm with her four siblings and parents. She attended Holland Christian High School, graduating in 1957 and started her family the next year. In the mid-1960s, Shirley and family moved to Phoenix Arizona where she lived until moving to Farmington NM in 1980 and then eventually back to Arizona in 2012 where she lived independently in her home in Mesa.
Shirley is survived by her children Paul (Tanya) Dorsett of La Plata NM, Lori (Curtis) House of Farmington NM, Lisa Bellamy of Phoenix AZ and James (Yadira) Dorsett of Gilbert AZ; She was preceded in death in 2025 by her daughter Debra Ingraham of Aztec NM. She leaves behind a loving family legacy with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a sister, two brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date to allow family to gather and prepare to properly honor her. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made in Shirley’s name to the Salvation Army, of whom she was a long-time active volunteer, supporter and ministry advocate for. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and is now at peace in the arms of her Savior and in His light, we find comfort.
