Sheryl's obituary

Sheryl Lynn Sands (Tecca) passed away in the early morning hours of January 24, 2021 in Tacoma, WA after being rushed to the hospital with Covid-19.
Sherri was born to Betty and Francis in Montana the second of seven siblings. The family moved to Washington state where they resided in Puyallup, Sherri attended Puyallup high school, and remained in Washington until her twenties when she moved to California.
In California Sherri gave birth to two children a son (Drew) and daughter (Julie) where she raised them and resided until 2010 when she moved back to Washington to be closer to her family.

Sherri loved children and helping contribute to the education of the next generation, she loved watching them learn and grow. She lived for those children and taking care of them brought her joy. She was in professional childcare at a facility and went on to nanny for her nieces as well as her honorary family.

Sherri was loved by many, she is survived by her children, Drew (Erin), Julie (Josh), her chosen daughter Casey (Kyle) and her granddaughter Xayah as well as two honorary grandsons Jonah and Lucas. Lucas was not only her chosen family but they were inseparable. She is also survived by 5 brothers, Jerry, Brett, Bart, Darrell and Wally as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family and friends.

Her faith was something that was very important to her, Sherri was a Christian and an active member in her community church. She loved the Christmas season and the candle light service on Christmas Eve. Not only did she believe in the power of prayer but she regularly would attend church events to help her maintain her relationship with her faith.

Sherri was the type of person that would do anything for those she loved and was eager to help even those she did not know. She was a great listener whose ears were always open and her shoulder there to cry on. She understood that grief is a process you just live with rather than get through. She spoke about her mother and sister Teri often and did things in their honor.

She loved coffee and her morning routine never missed out on that, prayer and coffee were her go to’s. Throw in a little country music or Christian tunes and her day was set. She loved spending time with her family but also enjoyed time alone. She loved drama shows and Shirley Temple. She loved animals and would volunteer to pet sit if her family needed her too.

To truly know the light that Sherri was in all the lives she effected you had to have known her. The world feels dark and empty without her presence. Her kindness knew no bounds and her generosity of time and spirit were limitless. She put everyone else’s needs before herself and those that love her feel lost without her. The suddenness of her passing from Covid-19 only adds to the shock and despair. As a woman of faith she would want us all to know that she’s looking down on us and rooting for us and that she is at peace and with her mother and sister now.

She will live on in those who knew her as they try to honor her every day through memory, through love and through faith.

Sherri, you will be missed and I hope that you know just how much you are loved and the wonderful person you were that we are grieving the loss of.
