Sheri's obituary
Sheri Lee Hanson Lott was born July 30th, 1974 in Colorado Springs, CO. She died Tuesday June 4th, 2024 at her home in Fort Collins, CO. Sheri fought 5 different types of cancer beginning with Lymphoma at age 19. In 2012 she began an incredibly difficult fight with breast cancer, and in true Sheri fashion, she managed to get diagnosed with four different types. In the last 7 years she fought through countless chemo treatments, infections, complications and crippling anxiety.
Meanwhile, she continued to be a Mom to 7 children, work, be a loving wife, and selflessly love 'her people'!
Sheri was determined to fight a good fight and give cancer hell. She did chemo, radiation, surgeries, medication- all the "traditional things". Then she did things the Sheri way, taking a holistic approach and focusing on living her life and giving out love. Love is what served her heart and filled her cup.
She spent the first 6 weeks of her life in a loving foster home before being adopted by her parents Ron and Lona. She was the apple of her parent's eye. For 5 years she was the Queen of the hill, her Daddy's princess, and the pride of her Mommy. Ron and Lona then decided to give Sheri a forever best friend and they adopted a son, Timothy. She immediately became the BEST big sister, and willingly shared the spotlight. She wanted a brother so badly, and finally got one.
Sheri was a one of a kind teen and adult. She was highly intelligent, but after Junior High had little interest in school. She spent most of school days in the lunchroom and study hall talking with upper classmen or visiting the teachers and counselors she liked. She always enjoyed the friendships and socialization from everyone. While in Junior High, she played basketball for one season but was mostly seen on the court trying to chat with her teammates.
Sheri Lee Hanson married her first and only love, Robert Berry Lott, on June 18th, 1991 in Bettendorf, IA. She finally got her dream of being a wife and mother.
In November of 1996, the Lott's moved to Fort Collins, CO. Sheri worked at Poudre Valley Hospital for nearly 25 years, in nearly every department. Her favorite, as you might guess, was her 12 years in the ER as the face of admitting. Her smile was the center of PVH on many nights.
Sheri developed a love of color, plants and flowers, and butterflies in the last 15 years. She loved camping, the sun, the beach, the mountains , supporting her kids' soccer events (which she attended faithfully), and music. She loved Eric Church! She joked that he could be her long lost biological brother because his lyrics spoke to her and his music made her feel. She attended 23 of his shows, 20 with Rob and the rest with her "Church Choir". Eric Church brought out an adventurous side of Sheri. She was known to ask Rob the night before a show to drive all night to go see him in concert. In Sheri fashion, with very little plan. They might not have had tickets, known where they would stay, or what they would eat- but they would go and they would always figure it out.
Her husband and children were the most important things in her life- what brought her the most pride and gave her the most joy. She is survived by her faithful, loving and caring husband Rob, her children: Brittany Lee (Molly), Brianna Dale, William Christopher- Billy (Kate), Brayden Robert (Megan), Bevan Josiah, Brody Malone (Paris), and Bentley Matthew. Her mother, Lona Lee Christopherson, her father Ronald T. Hanson (Leslie), her only brother Ronald Timothy Hanson (Gina) and their three children Gabrielle Marie, Isabelle Isabelle Kaylee, and Shawn Carlos. Would be remiss not to mention the girls who chose to love the Lotts. Kate Anguiano, who served as Sheri's friend and personal hair stylist. Kate always gave Sheri a boost of love, support and confidence. Megan Knierim, who always happily greeted Sheri and brought her laughter and joy. Molly Lott, Molly blessed Sheri in recent years by organizing full family gatherings that got the entire Lott family in the same room (which was no easy feat), and Paris Aksamit who always was lifting Sheri up and engaging in her talks about the universe and astrology.
Sheri has multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins who she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandpa Dale J. Hanson, her maternal grandma Hannah Lee Christopherson, and her dear Aunt Debbie Christopherson.
Sheri's wish was to donate her body to Science Care for further cancer research.
