Obituary for Shelly Lynn Gavlak

March 9, 1974 – January 28, 2026

Shelly Lynn Gavlak, born March 9, 1974, in Rock Springs, WY to Lloyd and Patricia McCord went home to be with our Heavenly Father. She is leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Shelly was a mother of two children; Austin and Kaitlyn whom she loved very much. Her greatest joy came from spending time with the people she loved. She had a warm spirit, a generous heart, and a way of making others feel loved and cared for. Whether through her laughter, her strength, or her quiet acts of compassion, Shelly touched countless lives and was one of those people that would give the shirt off her back to help anyone out. She was always down to have a good time and loved the simple joys in life with the ones she loved. 

Shelly is survived by her father Lloyd McCord, mother Patricia McCord, sister Shannon McCord, brother Jake McCord, son Austin Birkle, daughter Kaitlyn Birkle, and many nephews, a niece, her grandmother Elsie Sullivan, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Lloyd McCord and grandmother Lillian McCord.

Shelly’s life was a gift to all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her love, laughter, and spirit will remain forever in our hearts. Despite the challenges life threw at her, Shelly remained unyielding, confronting each difficulty with a brave heart and a smile that could light up any room. We will now rejoice in the fact that she is running in a field of wildflowers with our Lord and Savior.

 John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life"

A celebration of life will be held with Shelly’s family and friends to celebrate her and share memories of all the love and joy that Shelly brought to so many lives.
