SHELIA's obituary

We mourn the loss of Shelia Niska, a beloved wife, community supporter, and true friend. Born March 26, 1957, Shelia's bright light dimmed on May 30, 2022. She leaves behind her loving husband, John Niska, and a vast community influenced by her warmth, kindness, and eagerness to help others.  Shelia was the devoted daughter of Crawford G. Mcgill, and the late Phyllis J.

Mcgill, and devoted sister to Pamela Mcgill, Janet Mcgill, and Sharon Mcgill, and half-sister to Olivia Mcgill, and Mickey Mcgill and aunt to Jason Mcgill, and Julia Richards.

Shelia lived a life filled with vibrant colors, her favorites being the understated shades of beige, a reflection of her humble and down-to-earth character. She delighted in simple pleasures like organic foods and pure water, reflective of her love for pure and natural things.

Shelia's love for the Performing Arts was vast, adoring pieces from Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, and Chicago, and finding joy in watching performances of 'The Lion King'. She was also a fervent fan of the Ravens and enjoyed the reality TV series 'Housewives of Atlanta'.

A woman of strong faith, her favorite book was the Bible, and her favorite musician was Michael Jackson, a testament to her eclectic taste. Shelia's preferred recreational activity was walking – a simple yet profound activity she enjoyed, often at her favorite local spot in Honeygo Park, Baltimore County. She also loved vacationing in Hawaii and London, places that fed her soul's need for beauty and culture.

Shelia's life was highlighted by significant accomplishments. She was a proud Hampton Institute graduate, a beloved wife to John, and an Emmy award recipient from News Four New York. However, her greatest achievement lay in her extraordinary ability to give and share, leaving a legacy that emphasized that 'Life is more about giving than receiving'.

Shelia perpetually carried a contagious smile, full of life, making everyone feel great around her. Her undying support for causes such as the St. Jude Children Research Hospital showcased her caring heart. She was a woman of incredible personality, and her legacy of giving and sharing will continue to inspire her family, friends, and all who knew her.
