Shelia's obituary

Shelia Maxine Martin transitioned peacefully on the evening of April 12, 2024 at the age of 68. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life.

Shelia was born on November 7, 1955 in Reidsville, NC but spent most of her childhood in Hampton, VA where she attended Pembroke High School and Thomas Nelson Community College. She dedicated many years to serving others, working as a nurse’s aide for over 20 years, followed by military transportation dispatching, and later retiring from Riverside Hospital as a Nutrition Service Supervisor. More than anything, Shelia was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her 4 children meant the world to her. She loved giving surprises to her grandchildren, sending greeting cards, and studying scriptures with her sisters. In her free time, Shelia enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, and socializing with her close friends and family. Sheila was a devout Christian who accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Bethel United Church of Christ (now Bethel Christian Church) in Hampton, VA.

Those left to cherish her memory include her four children: Crystal Seldon (Alfonza), Phillip Martin IV, Kimberly Manns (Brian), and Nina Martin; eight grandchildren: Daijah White, Devin White, Isaiah Clark, Elijah Martin, Phillip Martin V, Caden Lee, Landon and Teagan Manns. Shelia is also survived by her five sisters: Glennie Ann Neal-Rosemond (Ronald), Wanda Jean Saunders, Cheryl Jennings, Carol Brooks, and Rachel Neal (Rick) and two brothers Roy Neal Jr. and Anthony “Tony” Neal (Valerie); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lelia Neal.

She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
