Shelia's obituary
Shelia Kay Gale (Johnson) was the firstborn child of Marvin and Bonnie Johnson, born on October 3, 1951, in West Point, Nebraska. She was later joined by her younger brother, Clark Johnson. The two grew up side by side on the family farm, spending endless days playing on old dirt roads and learning life’s earliest lessons together. Those childhood years shaped Shelia deeply—instilling in her a lifelong love of nature, a strong sense of responsibility, and a tireless work ethic that defined who she was.
Farm life taught Shelia the value of hard work, perseverance, and caring for others. These lessons were not taught through words alone, but through daily routines, shared responsibilities, and the quiet understanding that family and commitment mattered above all else. Those early experiences stayed with her throughout her life.
Shelia attended Laurel High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1969. After high school, she began her college journey, and during her first year she met Douglas Keith Gale. Their relationship grew into marriage, and together they built a family that became the center of Shelia’s world. They were blessed with three daughters: Christel, Tammy, and Cherri, whom Shelia loved deeply and devoted herself to raising.
As a mother, Shelia carried forward the same values she learned growing up—hard work, responsibility, and love for family—passing them on to her daughters. Her life was rooted in care, commitment, and the quiet strength she carried with her every day. Shelia will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her grounded spirit, and the enduring values shaped by her early years on the farm.
