Mrs. Shelba Key Lawson, age 85, of Ronda passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at her home. Mrs. Lawson was born September 22, 1936 in Surry County to Herbert and Katie Key.

Mrs. Lawson was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and retired from Sara Lee after 43 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Posie Lawson; son, Dwayne Carter; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Carter; brothers, Cecil Allen Key, Hassell Key, Max Key, Rex Key, Larry Key, Herbert Key, Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Wagoner, Georgia Long, Ruth Beeson, and an infant sister.

Survivors include: her sons, Gregg Carter of Elkin, Nickey Carter and wife Tammy of Ronda; sister, Kay Jolly of Roaring River; grandchildren, Cassey Brooke Carter, Matthew Gregg Carter, Nickey Brian Carter, Jr. and wife Kali, Joshua Dwayne Carter, Jade Nicole Carter, Summer Briann Sparks; great-grandchildren, Garry Brian Money and Lawson Brian Carter.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 -2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
