Shekera NiCola Sorrell, 37, of Penns Grove, New Jersey, passed away on April 21, 2021.

Shekera, born on January 28, 1984, to Irene P. Sorrell and Hillis C. Thompson, Jr, raised by Darnell James, Sr in Mannington Township, New Jersey immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Shekera went on to graduate from Penns Grove High School in 2002. After graduating from high school, Shekera went on to pursue a degree in Nursing at Salem Community College in 2006.

Shekera was a fiercely dedicated mom to all of her children. She enjoyed supporting her daughter, Ariana in soccer, basketball, and track and field. She was proud to attend sermons delivered by her son, Aaron and football games for Aarion. Family came first and was above all else to Shekera, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Shekera was predeceased by her father, Darnell James, Sr, maternal grandparents Andrew and Clara Sorrell, and a special niece, Samone Bre'Aisa Frye. She is survived by daughter, Ariana Robinson, sons Aaron Sorrell and Aarion Robinson, mother Irene Sorrell (Swedesboro, NJ), brother Darnell James, Jr, sisters Karlene Sorrell (Penns Grove, NJ), Dionne Sorrell (Larry) (Atlanta, GA), Hillary Sorrell (Penns Grove, NJ) *add sisters from dad's side*, and four special nieces Zakeetah Sorrell (Salem, NJ), Priscilla Sorrell (Carney's Point, NJ), Deziree Sorrell (Atlanta, GA), and Demetria Coleman (Alfred)(Carney's Point, NJ).
