Sheila's obituary
On September 19th, 2025, heaven gained another angel. Sheila Peace, born Sheila Diane Sokol, had the brightest soul and presence that lit up any room she entered.
Sheila grew up in Wantagh, Long Island with her parents and brother Geoff. She met her husband, Kenneth Peace, while they were working together at Equitable in Manhattan. They later moved to Hazlet, NJ where they raised their daughters Tara and Alana. Nothing brought her more joy than her daughters, husband, and close friends.
She had endless hobbies and passions including gardening, drawing, painting, sewing, hiking, crafting, spending time with friends, taking photos and, of course, anything involving her dogs. Sheila's love for animals earned her home the title of "the zoo" where over the years you could find dogs, birds, lizards, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, bunnies and even a hedgehog. Her beautiful gardens made the home easy to spot.
In 2022, Sheila and Ken joined Tara in Charlotte, NC. She enjoyed her retirement years decorating a beautiful home, walking her dogs, spending time with friends and family and planting another beautiful garden for everyone to enjoy.
She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
A celebration of life will be held for Sheila on Friday, June 19th, 2026 at the Keyport Gazebo located at the Keyport Waterfront from 2pm to 5pm. Please wear all the bright and beautiful colors my mom loved, this is a celebration of her shining memory and the best way to represent Sheila is with plenty of color.
