Sheila's obituary
Sheila Diefenderfer Staszkiewicz, 52, of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away on February 07, 2023 peacefully in her sleep.
Sheila was born on January 1st, 1971 to Dottie Eaton and Butch Diefenderfer in Allentown, PA. After graduating from Bartlesville High School in 1988, she went on to study at Mid-America Nazarene University, in Olathe, KS. She met Andy in 1987, and they wed in 1991, going on to have two children, Maddison and Parker. While she had various jobs throughout the years, she was always dedicated to the medical field. She found the most joy and pride in her recent roles, working on pharmaceutical trials across the country with a passion for improving the availability of life-saving treatments for cancer and other chronic conditions.
Before they were married, Sheila and Andy drove from Kansas to Hilton Head Island, SC, and they fell in love with the island town. They promised each other that one day they would move to the island and retire there. Sheila absolutely loved the island and the flip-flop way of life.
Sheila dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Sheila excelled at sharing her love with members of her family and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others, whether it was Andy, Maddison, or Parker and their various hobbies and passions over the years.
Sheila was a passionate photographer, and when she wasn’t filling her home with love and kindness, she could be found connecting with friends and family, spending time with the pets, or relaxing on the beach with a good book soaking up the sun. We will miss her greatly.
Sheila was predeceased by her father Butch Ervin Robert Diefenderfer Jr, 1978, grandparents George Fritz, 1979, Catherine Fritz, 1996, Ervin R. Diefenderfer, 1977, and June Diefenderfer, 1975. She is survived by Andy Staszkiewicz, Maddison Staszkiewicz, Parker Staszkiewicz, Dottie Eaton, David Eaton, Dean Diefenderfer, Kevin Diefenderfer, and other extended family members. There will be a funeral service at 10:00 am on February 16th, 2023 at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church followed by a celebration of life at the Island Funeral Home.
