In Loving Memory of
JUDITH TABITHA KAMUTIKAOMA MUSHONGA
AND
SHEBA RHESA SIMON MUSHONGA
Judith Tabitha Kamutikaoma Mushonga, born December 5, 1950, in Zimbabwe, transitioned peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 25, 2025.
Sheba Rhesa Simon Mushonga, born February 8, 1945, in Zimbabwe, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
After spending the entire day together in Sheba’s hospital room on Thursday April 24, Judy prepared to leave. As she said her goodbyes, Sheba looked at her and said, “You know, we will be going to heaven together.” Judy gently corrected him, saying, “No, you’re going ahead, and I’ll join you later when it’s my time.” He smiled and softly insisted, “No, we will go into eternity together.”
That night, Judy went to bed and passed away peacefully in her sleep. When their children shared the news of her passing with Sheba the next morning, he shed a tear, took a deep breath—as if in peace—and slowly closed his eyes. The following day, Sunday, he too transitioned from this life.
Their love story began in a close-knit community where they lived just a street apart. Their families knew each other well, and Sheba was good friends with Judy’s older brothers. They began dating shortly after high school and went on to share 60 beautiful years together.
Their union was blessed with five children—four daughters and a son. In 1986, Sheba visited New York on vacation and fell in love with the energy of the city. Driven by a desire to build a better life for his family, he eventually moved the family to Dallas, Texas, in 1989. The Mushongas soon made Fort Worth their home.
Sheba devoted his life to ministry within the Churches of Christ, both in Zimbabwe and in the United States. He served as a preacher, an Army chaplain, and later as a managing partner of several Denny’s restaurants in Terrell, Fort Worth, and Seagoville.
Judy earned her certification as an Activities Director from Tarrant County Community College and brought joy and compassion to the lives of many seniors across various care facilities in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
The couple were longtime members of Lake Como Church of Christ in Fort Worth before moving to co-pastor Faith Pointe Church of Christ with their son, Shane Mushonga. There, they continued to serve passionately—teaching weekly Bible classes, holding a prayer conference call each Tues and Thursday evening, organizing ministries, and pouring into the lives of all who came in contact with them.
Their love for God’s people was authentic. Their laughter was contagious. Their kindness left a lasting mark. They lived lives that reflected the heart of Christ and showed what it truly means to be both human and holy.
They leave behind a legacy of love and faith, cherished by their five children: Abbie, Shane, Sarah, Susannah, and Bathsheba; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family, beloved church members, and friends.
Their lives will be celebrated on Sarturday May 17, 11:00AM at the Lake Como Church of Christ. 5601 Fletcher Ave, Ft. Worth, TX 76107. www.lakecomococ.org.
