Shawn's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Shawn "Redman" Rogers, a devoted family man, loyal friend, and commendable serviceman. Shawn, affectionately known as Redman, was born on September 3, 1967, and left us on August 3, 2025.
Shawn is survived by his estranged daughter Bailey Rogers, cherished chosen family members, Edward Bolton & Amy Leafty, the children he shared with Charles Petrie, Amy, & Ed, (Daniel Petrie & Brittany Petrie), who will remember him fondly and dearly miss his presence. He is also survived by many friends and his Navy Family.
Known for his culinary preferences, among Shawn's favorite foods were Sour Cream Burritos, Hobo Burgers, King Ranch, Steak & Baked Potatoes, BBQ, and homemade Enchiladas. His preferred beverages were Dr. Pepper, strong black coffee, sweet tea & Dos Equis Beer,
Shawn was an avid reader, with JD Robb and Kim Harrison topping his list of favorite authors. An enthusiast of Sci-fi and western genres, books offered him an avenue for relaxation. His musical tastes were diverse, ranging from George Strait to AC/DC, and he often enjoyed whatever music his companions were listening to.
He had a knack for Dice game 10000, and cherished time spent in recreational activities such as reading, spending time with his family, impromptu trips, and indulging in his tobacco hobby. Huntsville State Park was one of his favorite local spots, often providing a backdrop to these memorable pursuits.
Shawn was compassionate and committed to causes close to his heart, including Autism, Cancer, and Animal Rights. His personality, radiant in the color green he so loved, was a beautiful blend of gentleness, authenticity, generosity, love, loyalty, support, and sarcasm. He was a friend to all, offering unwavering support in times of need.
Shawn left behind valuable life lessons, the most significant being "Love those who love you. Family is who show up". His accomplishments were multitudinous, with notable roles as a Navy Seaman, Fireman, Friend, and Truck Driver. His legacy, however, is one of loyalty, humor, and generosity, that will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones.
Shawn will be dearly missed by us, his loved ones – Edward, Amy, Daniel, Brittany, Charles, and his friends. His memory will forevermore be a beacon of warmth, strength, and love in our hearts.
