Shawn's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shawn Black, a beloved husband, son, and friend, who left us too soon on June 10, 2025. Born October 11, 1971, Shawn brought joy and laughter wherever he went.
Shawn leaves behind his devoted spouse, Heidi Burke, and his loving mother, Mary Black as well as his brother Daniel Dangerfield. His loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A man of simple pleasures, Shawn was a fan of anything turkey, paired with a cold Stella Artois. He passionately loved the music of R Kelly, Michael Jackson, and Alicia Keys, but his heart truly belonged to E40.
Among his favorite pastimes were watching Green Acres, Beverly Hillbillies, and Hogan's Heroes. A proud supporter of the New Orleans Saints, Shawn brought his vibrant enthusiasm to every game. When not engrossed in a game on his PS4, Shawn found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening, cooking, and eating. His local hangout spot was always Samstown.
Shawn's personality was distinctive and unforgettable. He was happy, warm, generous, forgiving, and amusing, always brightening the room with his presence. His favorite color, blue, reflected his calm and serene demeanor.
Shawn's life philosophy, "Treat people like you want to be treated and always do the right thing," exemplified his generous spirit. These words of wisdom, combined with his jovial laughter and genuine kindness, will remain in our hearts forever.
Shawn Black may have left us, but his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration. Shawn, you are greatly missed.
