Shaun's obituary
Shaun Wilburn passed away at his home in Hillsborough, North Carolina on the morning of February 26, 2026. Born on December 4, 1963, in Chapel Hill, Shaun lived a life defined by the work of his hands, the warmth of his heart, and his devotion to his family.
To know Shaun was to like him immediately. He had a laugh that filled a room and a gift for making strangers feel like old friends. He was deeply loyal to the people, and dogs, he loved.
A Chapel Hill High School alumnus and graduate of Frederick Military Academy in Portsmouth, Virginia, Shaun was an avid soccer player throughout his youth, earning MVP honors in military school and continuing to compete in intramural leagues. His love of sports carried into adulthood, both on the golf course and as a devoted fan of UNC athletics.
Shaun went on to build a career as a talented carpenter. With a careful eye and a steady hand, Shaun brought skill and pride to everything he built. His work was a reflection of who he was as a man solid, dependable, and resilient.
Shaun is survived by his wife Kelly Wilburn, his children Jennifer Cooper, Bradley Wilburn, Kirk Haas, Corbin Haas, Sara Haas, and Ainsley Haas, and his grandchildren Anna, Aiden, Maverick, Orion, and Toula and his grand-dog Lilo.
