Remembering Shaun Amar Abshire: A Life Lived with Passion
Shaun Amar Abshire, 20, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Kettering Health. He was surrounded by the immense love of his family and friends following a fast and fierce battle with Glioblastoma.
A Journey of Heart and Home
Shaun’s journey began on September 7, 2005, in Springfield, Ohio, where he lived as an infant and young child with his mom, Shanae Walls. His path later led him to Atlanta, Georgia, where he shared a home with his dad and stepmom, Gerald and Andria Abshire, along with his sister and brother. Shaun attended grade school and high school alongside his older brother and best friend, Shane, proudly graduating from Langston Hughes High School in May, 2023.
Following graduation, the brothers moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, sharing an apartment and life’s first big adventures. It was there, at the prime of his life, that Shaun lived his "best life" and fell in love with the Ocean. It is to these waters that Shaun will ultimately return to be scattered, finding eternal rest in the place that brought him such peace.
His Next Chapter
Most recently, Shaun returned to Dayton, Ohio, with a heart full of plans for his next chapter. He spoke often and excitedly about his goal to get an apartment with his sister, Serenity, and he longed to spend every moment he could with his mom and the younger sisters he absolutely adored. At the time of his passing, he was exactly where he wanted to be—back in the heart of the Dayton family and his beloved "grammies" who anchored him from the very beginning.
A Legacy of Joy
Shaun was truly one-of-a-kind. Known for his infectious smile and effortless charisma, he had a way of drawing people in. He lived his life unapologetically, wearing his heart on his sleeve and embracing every emotion no matter the risk. Whether he was dominating on the basketball court or joking with his family, Shaun was the embodiment of a fun-loving spirit—kind, persuasive, and a pillar of laughter for all who knew him.
