Sharon's obituary

On August 21, 2025, Sharon Jean Voigt, age 69, was called home to be with the Lord, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 1, 1956, in North Tonawanda, NY, she was a beloved wife to her husband, Wesley, whom she married on June 8, 2001, a devoted mother to her son, Aaron, and a cherished sister to Gail, Dave, and her late brother, Tom.

Sharon was a woman of unwavering faith, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She found joy in prayer, strength in Scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life through Jesus Christ. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and unyielding trust in God’s plan. Through every season of life—both in joy and in trial—she clung to the promises of God, leaving behind a testimony of grace, perseverance, and hope.

A longtime resident of the DuBois area, Sharon also lived in New York, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, and Illinois, carrying her warmth and faith wherever the Lord led her. She was always active in the church, faithfully serving in every congregation she became a part of. Her love for worship and music led her to join a gospel singing group, The Gospelaires, through which she shared the message of Christ in song.

As the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” This verse beautifully reflects her life: one of faithful endurance and love that pointed others to the Lord she cherished.

Though her passing leaves us with sorrow, we take comfort in the words of Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted,” and in the assurance of God’s promise that “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).

She is survived by her loving husband, Wesley Voigt; her son, Aaron (Kayla) White of DuBois; her sister, Gail (Tinker) Davis of DuBois; her brother, Dave Tinker of Brookville; and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Norma (Forsythe) Tinker, and her brother, Thomas Tinker.

Sharon will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit. Yet, we rejoice in the blessed hope that she now rests in the presence of her Savior, free from pain and filled with everlasting joy.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at Weedville Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, August 26, with gathering at 10:30 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited in remembrance and thanksgiving for her life and the eternal life she now enjoys in Christ.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” – Psalm 116:15
