Sharon's obituary
We mourn the loss of Sister Sharon "Piggy" Thomas, who graced this world with her warm presence in the year of 1956, and departed from us on May 31, 2025. She departed from us on May 31, 2025. Although she was fondly known as Piggy among her loved ones, she mostly preferred to be called Sharon.
Sharon is survived by her children Bilal Thomas Riyadh Thomas Ahmed Thomas and step-children Shannon Stones Jared Stones who, like many others, looked up to her as a beacon of love and warmth. Throughout her lifetime, Sharon maintained a dignified persona, exhibiting a happy, warm, and loving personality that made her a joy to be around.
In her wisdom, she shared many life lessons, the most impactful undoubtedly being her advice to treat everyone like family. It was a testament to her belief in human connection and her innate ability to foster a sense of inclusivity and communal love wherever she went.
Sharon’s life was rich with achievements and she was a proud graduate of Howard University. Her education, coupled with her compassionate nature, paved the way for her to touch many lives positively.
Though Sharon’s physical presence will be sorely missed, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith continues to inspire us. As a devout Muslim, her life was a reflection of her devotion to Allah. Her caring nature extended beyond her family and friends, touching the lives of everyone she met. She was truly one of a kind, and we remember her today, not with sadness, but with gratitude for the beautiful life she lived and the countless hearts she warmed.
