Sharon's obituary
Sharon Jane (Srader) York, 78, of Edmond, OK passed away on January 13, 2023 after a sudden unexpected health event.
Sharon was born on October 27, 1944 to Ernest and Rachel Srader in Major County, Oklahoma. She was the 4th of the 6 children in the home. One sibling passed in infancy. Sharon had lots of fun on the watermelon farm with her brothers and sisters and riding Buck, the family horse. She grew up in the Cleo Springs Nazarene church. As a teenager, Sharon was a wonderful seamstress and made most of her clothes. Mother was so proud. Sharon had many loves in her life but the dearest love of her life was her one and only son, Terry Wayne Nickel. Sharon had to bear the sudden loss of her beloved Terry on December 10, 2018.
Sharon received her diploma from Miami North Beauty school in 1966 and continued to be a successful hairstylist till the day she retired in early 2017. Her other passion was gardening and she taught us how to grow flowers and plants.
Sharon moved from Cleo Springs to Florida, to West Virginia, to Lacey, Washington , and back to Florida. She lived in Vero Beach, Florida, for many years making it her home till her move back to Oklahoma in May of 2021. After Sharon retired, she was able to have many fun adventures with her last romantic love, Hugh Watkins. They took trips across the country and even did skydiving. She also spent much time working in her yard and garden.
Sharon had many friends over the years especially her fellow hairstylists. One special friend and stylist was Mara Swatek. She was Sharon’s best friend and the one person that took care of Sharon through 2 deaths and the onset of her Alzheimer’s disease and for that the family will always be grateful. was predeceased by her [list of family members predeceased].
