Sharon's obituary
Sharon "Nanny" Silva, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024, in Fresno, California, after a courageous and long battle with Alzheimer's and dementia. She was 81 years old.
Sharon was born to her doting parents in Rawlings, Wyoming, in 1943, where her father owned a cherished gas station that would become the backdrop for many treasured childhood memories. She shared a special bond with her older sister Carol, whom she adored and considered one of her closest confidantes. Although distance separated them in later years, their sisterly bond remained unbreakable, even after Carol's passing in 2021.
After attending Women's College in Colorado, Sharon embarked on the journey of life filled with love, laughter, the inevitable challenges, and the unpredictable ebbs and flows of life, which she faced with much grace and resilience.
In 1984, she married her beloved Paul, embracing not only him but also his three boys—Barry, Paul Jr., and Jay. Together, they carved out a life brimming with joy and adventure in San Luis Obispo County. Paul's passing in 2014 left a void in Sharon's heart that could never be filled, yet his memory remained a guiding light in her life.
Sharon was the proud mother to daughters, Terri (Nathan) and Rene (Michael). She was Nanny (Grandma) to Natasha (Garrett), Jacob (Amanda), and Nichole (Dave), Logan, and Justin, and great-grandchildren: Quinn and Eleanor. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Throughout her life, Sharon dazzled with her vibrant personality and flair for fashion, from her bold, lipstick-adorned smile to her glitzy, glamorous ensembles that shimmered from head to toe. She was the life of the party, always ready to turn heads and light up the room with her infectious energy and zest for a good time! Her love for music was life-long and profound, serving as a constant companion through the highs and lows of her journey. It was more than just a pastime; it served as a constant source of passion, her connection to others, and a source of immense joy. Music was not just a hobby but a vital part of her identity, offering a profound outlet for expression, creativity, and worship. Sharon and Paul's shared love for music was evident in every aspect of their lives, from leading musical organizations to gracing the stage in musicals and concerts, where their harmonious voices echoed with love and joy.
Sharon always found solace in her garden and among her many, delicate flowers and plants, which she lovingly tended and admired.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Sharon leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love. Though she may have departed this world, her spirit will forever live on in the countless lives she touched.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 11:00 am at New Life Church in Pismo Beach. Instead of flowers, please consider wearing sparkles or the color red in memory of Sharon.
Sharon will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that she so generously shared with the world.
