Sharon Annette Salley

January 19, 1960 - August 23, 2025

Sharon Salley, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 65. She was born on January 19, 1960, in Red Bank, New Jersey, to Arlean Johnson and the late Herman Johnson.

Sharon grew up in Red Bank and attended the Red Bank Public Schools. She had a love for sports and earned varsity letters for basketball. With a strong passion for learning and helping others, she pursued higher education, earning an Associate’s Degree in Addiction Counseling from Ocean County College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Kean University. Sharon married Steven Salley in 1997. The couple were married for 12 years before Steven passed from this life.

Sharon worked in the insurance industry, retiring from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield after 16 years of service. She was deeply respected by colleagues and known for her dedication, compassion, and professionalism. Realizing she had more to offer in retirement, she transitioned to the Lakewood and Point Pleasant School systems, where she worked as a paraprofessional. She made a huge impact on the children she worked with during her tenure. Beyond her career, she dedicated her life to service—volunteering, pioneer work, and offering kindness and support to all she encountered. As a devout and faithful servant of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Sharon lived her life with humility, love, and unwavering commitment to studying the scriptures.

Sharon was the proud mother of six children: Kelly Clark, Ryan Clark, Sharise Salley, Steven Salley Jr., Shanell Salley, and Stephan Salley. She was also a cherished grandmother to twelve grandchildren who brought her endless joy. You would never see her without one of her grandkids by her side. Family meant everything to Sharon, and she often took the lead in bringing everyone together. She played a large role in the lives of her many siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends who will always remember her love, guidance, and support.

Sharon is survived by her loving mother, Arlean Johnson, and siblings Brenda Small, Patricia Johnson, Herman Kenneth Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, Steven Johnson, Lucy Johnson, and Crystal Simmons. She was preceded in death by husband, Steve Salley; father, Herman Johnson; and siblings, Jackie Johnson and Brian Johnson.

Sharon’s life was a living testimony of selflessness, love, and faith. She touched countless lives with her abundant generosity, guidance, and devotion to family and community. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
