Sharon's obituary
Beyond her grandchildren, everyone knew Sharon Parker as generous, hardworking and helpful. She loved in deed more than in word through her constant hospitality, abundant cooking, and skillful sewing. Always proving her talent in the kitchen, she would often create recipes to replicate restaurant foods that intrigued her after tasting them one time. She was a talented seamstress who loved to teach, learn and share her art. Always frugal, her pantry, drawers, freezers and cabinets overflowed with her elaborate deal hunting efforts. You could always find her yard adorned with her favorite color, purple, in all its various hues. She couldn't wait for God's gift of a paradise earth and she loved for her yard to reflect a small taste of what that will be like. Sharon loved sharing her creations and helping others. Most of all she loved Jehovah, never passing up an opportunity to explain who he is and the hope he had given her when she was just a teenager.
From an early age, Sharon displayed an industrious and hardworking spirit, helping her parents run a grocery store in Hawai’i until she was 16. Her resilience was demonstrated when she stayed in Hawai’i with her younger brother, Adrian, instead of moving with the rest of her family to California. Sharon worked hard to support herself with several jobs. During that time, Sharon’s older sister, Vivian introduced Jehovah to her. She loyally loved Jehovah, was baptized in 1963, and zealously began to pioneer after high school with her cousin, Stephanie, and later with her brother too.
In 1968, Lowell Parker married that 'dark Chinese girl' from Hawai’i. Lowell and his "Abishag'' shared their love for the ministry and continued to pioneer together for 2 years. A new adventure began in 1970 with the birth of their son, Shane, followed by their daughter, Jennine, in 1973 and another surprise came 8 years later with Michael, in 1981. After raising their family between Hawai’i and California, the Parkers finally settled in Bend, Oregon. Sharon and Lowell worked and endured together as a team, trying their best to raise their children to know and love Jehovah. Sadly, Sharon lost her mate in death in 2007. In order to endure, Sharon clung to Jehovah. Her loyalty to Jehovah led her to listen to his direction willingly and begin attending a new congregation, Old Mill, after decades of being with the Parkway Congregation. Sharon faithfully attached herself to her new congregation, made new friendships, received Jehovah’s blessing and was a blessing to all.
All those who know Sharon will miss her peach pie, 'tiramisu' and teriyaki steak. More than that, we will all miss this faithful, dignified, and hospitable pearl of a person. Jehovah is eager to bring back to life his, and our, treasured Sharon (Job 14:14)
