Background
My mother unexpectedly passed away this afternoon. Leaving behind 5 children, 6 grand children, her two sisters and many other loved ones. My mother slipped on some water, fell and unfortunately broke her hip and shattered her elbow which ended her up in surgery. My mother survived a severe stroke 8 years ago and has been so healthy.
During surgery, she had issues breathing and had to be given CPR. Doctor planned to run a full CT scan after she got through recovery but unfortunately she began to go into cardiac arrest. They were able to keep her alive but it kept happening when her blood pressure was dipping really low. They couldn’t safely get her to the CT but they were very certain it was a blood clot in her lung that must of developed.
We had a option to have a blood thinner to be put into her IV. It could break up the clot and help with her blood pressure and breathing so we took that chance. It the end, it didn’t do enough... it helped but she kept going. I had to make this horrible choice but the right one, to let my mom go. She couldn’t last on her own and I didn’t want to see the fight that she was going through.
My mother is and always will be my best friend. No one thought this was going to happen.. breaking a hip and then passing away.. this just doesn’t make sense. My mother Sharon had a very hard life. Raising 5 children on her own. Working sometimes 2-3 jobs at a time to keep us feed and a roof over our heads. Everyone who has ever met my mother knows she is the very best person! The most warm hearted and kind woman.. someone I am beyond proud to call my mother. I do not know what I am going to do without her.. I need to be strong right now to get all the arrangements together but this is just horrible.. I still don’t believe it as I sit here and join this website.
My family and I are never ones to ask for help but we have all taken a bit hit this past year with Covid and financials are just taking a hit. We want to give our mother a nice goodbye and have her friends and family to come see her and say their goodbyes also. She never had anything nice while raising us.. a very old car, always lived in old small rentals, no fancy vacations, no fancy jewelry.. I want to make this special for her because she deserves this! She’s always deserved the best and it may have no always been easy for her.. but she was the best mom, my mom and my best friend.
