Sharon's obituary

Sharon Louise Frazer, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away on July 25, 2021 after a short battle with lung cancer. 

 Sharon was born in February of 1938 to Robert (Bob) C. Cardwell, born 1891, and Minerva G. Cardwell, born 1902, in Winfield, KS.  Sharon graduated from Winfield High School in 1956.  She has four siblings: Janeanne Fry, Robert "Bob G" Cardwell, William Bruce Cardwell and Margaret Johnson. 

 As a senior in high school, she started her first job at the Winfield State Hospital.  Sharon had completed 42 years of service when the hospital closed in 1998 and held the position of Mental health Technician II.  Sharon also delivered the Traveler newspaper for 28 years (ending in 2005) for the communities of CedarVale, Dexter, Maple City and Silverdale. 

 Sharon married Bill J. Frazer in 1956 and had 3 children: Dan F. Frazer, Jonnie M. Donohue and Billie Jean Frazer.  She and Bill Divorced in 1969.  In 1975 Sharon met her life partner Virgie Young. 

 Prior to retirement, Sharon spent her time playing softball, basketball and a traveling bowling team with Virgie Young, Beverly Jenkens, and Francis Baucom. She enjoyed riding her many motorcycles over the years, woodworking, and building things with her hands.  Sharon also spent many weekends camping with Virgie and the grandkids.

 After retiring in 2005, Sharon spent her time attending Silver Dollar City International Music Festivals, flying kites, doing puzzles with her grandchildren, playing Mahgong with her sister, and dominating Scrabble. 

The highlight of her last 42 years was attending the Walnut Valley Music festival and camping with her Walnut Valley Music Festival Family. 

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Robert C Caldwell, her mother, Minerva G Cardwell, her brother, Robert "Bob" Graham Cardwell, her daughter, Billie Jean Frazer, and life partner, Virgie Young. 

She is survived by sisters, Janeanne Fry and Margaret Johnson, all of Winfield; brother, William Bruce Cardwell, of Sonoita, AZ; Sister-in-law, Donna Cardwell of Cape Girardeau; Children (and spouses), Dan F. Frazer, and Jonnie and Danny Donohue all of Winfield; Grandchildren (and spouses), Annisa and Grayson Hovey, of Indianapolis, Billie Jo Donohue of Winfield, Daniel Frazer of Peabody and Jason Frazer of Moundridge; great-grandchildren, Ayden and Liam Hovey of Indianapolis, Kaizer McClure of Winfield; nieces, nephews and spouses, Catherine and Dennis Shiever, Frank and Debbie Fry, Dorothy and Pat Potter, Linda Hanshaw, Jackie and Marty Fluegge of Missouri, and Robin and Christopher Mullins of Illinois, Rachelle and Michael Roosevelt of Andover, KS, Sharlene Johnson of California, and Stephen and Beth Johnson of Winfield, Alan Cardwell of Sonoita; great-nieces and great-nephews, Evert and Ruthanne Shiever, Debra Koss of Janesville, WI, Jacob and Miranda, Levi, and Samuel Roosevelt of Andover, Chris and Jocelyn Potter of Memphis, TN, Sara and Jeremy Houser of Leoti, and Andrea and Devon Johnson of Winfield, Hope Tressa Potter of Memphis, Eliza Marie Alermand and Skyler Lunn Stephens of Janesville WI, Brianna Marten of Cape Girardeau, MO,Jerry and Arwen Mullins Bellville, IL.
